Christmas Traveler Smash Book Swap

This Christmas I was invited to take part of a beautiful swap.

I have to send one Christmas smash book page, made by me, to three of my crafty friends -that also love to smash-.

So, as I´m a huge fan of ScrappyDew cutting files, I chose to decor my pages with their lovely files, and this is the result:

Made with Nut Cracker file

Made with Tis the Season file

Made with Nativity Scene file

Aren´t they lovely???

I added a tag to each one of the pages, so my friends can write up their own Christmas memories.

In Everything Give Thanks!

Aren´t you bless enough to be thankful???

To make the indians boy and girl, I used the new "Thanksgiving" expansion pack for the Scrap Factory.

For the tepee, I used the "Indians" file (this file also includes the indians, if you don´t have the Scrap Factory).

Remember:

In everything give thanks!!!!

Oh My Deer

Gosh I just made it!  These Christmas cards are taking a lot of time and effort.  Oh, hi there!  So glad you could spend a few moments with me this bright and shiny Saturday morning.  Have the next batch of 30 Christmas cards to share with you today.  Let’s get to it!!!1st the lyrics~~

~The file used is called Reindeers from ScrappyDew of course
~Recollections paper for card base
~American Crafts POW! glitter paper in Evergreen and Blush Rose (scarfs)
~Cloud 9 Joyful Sparkle paper (scarfs)
~Inside paper Imaginisce #400145
~Inside paper (girl reindeer) Paper Heart Dazzle Circles
~Envelopes will be made out of cheap yucky paper that isn’t worth beans

This was a really fun one to put together.  If you read last weeks post, you got a clue as to what was coming next in the series of 5 Christmas cards for each bundle.  First here is the male reindeer.

One set has green scarf, the other red

Inside of cardNow I really wanted to create a female reindeer.  I copied a hoof in each size, made it smaller and cut off the bottom to make pretty nails.  Put a shiny pink scarf, red lips and purple earrings and you have a girly girl reindeer.

The background paper is from Costco

Girl reindeer insideNow I want to share with you what I do with the back of all the cards I make.  I usually find a really small but relevant stamp.  Stamp the back and then I put on a sticker made out of address labels that has all my information.

One last picture and this set is complete….

Group photo!!!

That’s it for this week.  Have a bright and merry week. So until the next episode, bright blessings, Jana

Christmas Magnets

Last week, ScrappyDew released a couple of new cutting files I loved

and they were just perfect to decor my fridge this Christmas, so I made magnets with them.

This is made with Snowman Heads file

This is made with Stacked Owls  file

This is how they look on my fridge :o)

After all the paperpiece work, I covered it with a coat of Modge Podge to protected them, due they are shown on my kitchen.

Have a great weekend!!!

Step Christmas Cards

This card design is just perfect when you want to place a short name or message on the steps.

Geri used two pattern file sets from the Vault Members Area to create her Christmas cards, Reindeer Set 2 and Christmas Mice 2011. Two of the 64 pattern file sets that have recently been placed inside the Vault for members to download.

They turned out great!

Baby Amira Box Card

One of our best friends are having a baby anytime soon, So I designed their baby Amira this box card using Scrappy Dew’s Baby Carriage - 2014 pattern and the Stork Carrying Babies pattern.

I used a lot of different techniques so this is going to be a long post. All the supplies are listed at the bottom of the post, right after the download link, support free stuff and order from here I you feel you need them.

The lashes, the nose and the mouth of the baby,  as well as the eyes and lashes of the bear were drawn on the explore using an American Crafts  0.1 point black pen that fits perfectly on the pen adapter of the Explore. The Scrappy Dew file comes with the lashes and the Explore had no trouble drawing them.

I also used A Pilot Choose White Gel Pen to draw the sentiment, the name Amira, the lines on the rattle and the faux stitching on the baby’s clothes. This pen does not fit perfectly on the Explore, but here is a workaround. After everything was cut, I added some highlights by hand with the same pen,

The shiny accents on the rattle were hand made with a Glitter Gel Pen sold here in Chile.

I lightly inked the edges of  the base box with Spun Sugar Distress Ink on a Dauber. And the violet panels using Dusty Concord Distress Ink, also on a dauber.

For the Baby and the bear, I used Tea Dye Distress Ink on a dauber for the edges. The face shadows were done using a Ranger Waterbrush with the same ink and Worn Lipstick for the bows and rosie cheeks.

I rarely use pattern paper, first of all it is hard to getfind here in Chile and second, I wouldn’t know what to use, so I stamped the colored cardstock using Inkadinkado Mod Flower Flourish stamp set. The set comes with four  stamps than can be placed randomly to give a different look every time and you can choose what will show once everything is cut. Make sure you have a big acrylic block for these, because they are larger than most stamps.

For the light blue cardstock, I used Versamark Ink for a watermark effect.

And for the red cardstock I used Versamagic White Cloud Ink. This ink delivers great coverage and I like that chalk finish.

I also stamped the back panel of the card using Tsukineko Crimson Copper Brilliance Ink.

The card was glued together using Aleene’s Tacky glue pen for all the medium and small parts, and Scotch Adhesive Dot Roller for all the red and violet panels. I’ve realised Aleene’s tacky glue besides holding all the parts together very good, it reinforces the card making it sturdier. I used 3M Mounting tape to give it a bit of dimension.

Finally, I added some bling with Rhinestones and adhesive pearls.

Instructions:

  1. Import in DS

  2. Resize to 14.65 inches wide (don’t worry, your 12x12 mat will be fine once you ungroup the pattern)

  3. Ungroup

  4. Change function for faux stitches layer of the pink bib and the bear’s eyes to write,

  5. Attach faux stitches to bib, and bear’s eyes to bear head.

  6. Cut

  7. Enjoy!

Studio Full of Penguins!!

Now on to the first batch of 30 Christmas cards.  I have a bazaar the first weekend of December.  I am making bundles of 5 Christmas cards each and hope to have 20-25 bundles ready to sell.  I am thinking a price of $10 each bundle should work.  Everyone admires your work but won’t pay what we all know it’s really worth.

But first the lyrics…

~All cardstock is recollections
~The file is X-Mas Palz Collection that can be found in the ScrappyDew Vault area.
You really should check the vault area out.  Here is the link http://www.scrappydew.com/
~Background for the front of the card is giftwrap from Costco.

So now on to the Penguins.

Now that really is a lot of Penguin Christmas cards.  Oh forgot to tell you the rubber stamp is by Studio G and I picked it up a couple of summers ago at Joann’s.

So that’s it for this week.  Back to the studio to create more Christmas goodness.  I hope you have a wonderful week.  Veterans Day is Tuesday.  So while so many have the day off, just remember our veterans.

Bright blessings, Jana
